It starts with great content. Let’s assume you’re already doing this.

So, What’s the #1 Best Tip to get Your Podcast More Popular?

– CONSISTENCY –

Let’s get right to the point. You want your subscriber base to grow and build. As my friend Dave Pirner of the band “Soul Asylum” sings in the song “Black Gold“: “Nothing Attracts a Crowd, Like A Crowd”.

Consistency is an important attribute to grow an audience and get more podcast subscribers.
Be Consistent – Grow Your Audience.

When I started podcasting with my two daughters in 2007, I made it a point that EVERY Friday, a new podcast was released. Subscriber or not, you could depend on it.

We would record each episode Thursday night, and I’d schedule it for release at 12 am, Friday.

Subscribers and listeners across the country went to bed Thursday night, confident a new show would be available when they woke up the following morning. Of course the podcast was available in over 200 countries, so local times vary. However, if you lived anywhere in the continental U.S., we gained your trust. Why? Because we ALWAYS delivered a new show every Friday. Consistency was a key factor to success.

Just because you release a new show, it’s certainly no guarantee your podcast will be up-to-date and LISTED right away.

Apple Podcasts is a good example. You can publish a new podcast, and hours later, it may or may not be found via their search. With thousands of podcasts, Apple doesn’t take your new release and rush it into their system. It takes time.

By scheduling your podcast to be released at midnight, you should be able to filter though the Apple system, and in most cases, be available by the time you and your listeners wake up.

This will help you build a loyal audience who will be excited to listening to a new show on their way to the office (or in our case – on the bus ride to school).

BE CONSISTENT.

RELEASE NEW PODCAST EPISODES on a regular basis.

Happy Podcasting.
